fishingcompsmokoareaThe Te puke club and North Island forklifts has held another very successful labour weekend fishing tournament with 185 fishermen taking part, the weather was a bit dodgy on the Friday and Sunday with most of the fish being caught in almost perfect conditions on the Saturday
The chairman and committee would like to thank the many great sponsors for this tournament and congratulate the many fishermen that took away great prizes with the winning fish. The major sport prize being $2000.00 towards a holiday to Rarotonga this was won by John Wilson from Tauranga.
The winning trout was caught by John Bell weighing 3.385 KG, the Juniors biggest Trout was Josh Baxter 2.835kg,The biggest Snapper was caught by Keith Reddaway 5.105 KG and the Junior Snapper was Caught by Max Wealleans 2.455 kg The Heaviest Kingfish was caught by Dale Healy 14.30 kg. Crayfish Craig Waterhouse 2.455 and Kahawahi Steve Chalmers 2.570
The committee is planning a major kids only competition in the new year with eel’s trout snapper and Kahawai being the target species.
